Acne: Causes and Treatment

Ayurvedic healthcare recommendation for the relief and cure of acne

⠀⠀

What is acne actually?

⠀⠀

Acne is a term for diseases of the sebaceous gland apparatus and the hair follicles. It varies greatly depending on the severity of the disease. It is characteristic of the formation of papules, pustules or nodules by the inflamed sebaceous glands.

⠀⠀

What causes acne?

⠀⠀

There are numerous causes for acne formation, such as genetic predisposition, bacterial infections, unhealthy lifestyle, stress, hormonal imbalances, excessive consumption of meat and fast food, too much fat in the diet, high intake of acidic foods (yogurt, cheese, etc.), excessive application of cosmetics, side effects of drugs, poor hygiene, pollution, poor digestion and reduced metabolism.

⠀⠀

What can I do to reduce acne?

⠀⠀

The basis for a healthy body, according to Ayurvedic healthcare, is an individually fitted diet and the right lifestyle.

⠀⠀
Here are some helpful Ayurvedic tips that have already helped many in relief from acne:

Everyday measures that can be used against acne

If we are stressed, our body releases stress hormones. These stress hormones lead to a series of reactions in our body that can cause acne creation. It is therefore essential to keep the stress level as low as possible. Yoga can be very helpful. Best combined with quiet night sleep, for the body to recover.

⠀⠀

The right diet

⠀⠀

In addition to the right lifestyle, a good diet is essential for healthy and beautiful skin. There is a saying that seems to be very real: “Beauty comes from within”. It is vital for the body to absorb as fewer toxins as possible. Therefore, especially greasy food, fast food, artificial flavours or very sour and spicy foods should be avoided. Instead, more fresh fruit should be integrated into the diet. Simple and hot meals are especially suitable for the body to digest. To support the body’s own detoxification, intake of water needs to be increased (about two litres per day). Also, Ayurvedic detox programs or hormonal therapy with special herbs can be used to help the detoxification process.

⠀⠀

⠀⠀

Tip: A juice made out of grapefruit can be taken every morning on an empty stomach, as it also supports detoxification from inside.

⠀⠀

Ayurvedic beauty tips for your own use

⠀⠀

It is not exclusively lifestyle or diet that can help reduce acne. The correct hygiene is also important: The affected areas should be kept as clean as possible. If the face is particularly affected, it is recommended to wash it three to four times a day with warm water. For the pores not to be additionally clogged, little or no makeup should be used. Make-up should also be removed before bedtime.

⠀⠀

Here are some ayurvedic beauty secrets for direct application:

⠀⠀

  • Relief paste for red and burning acne: Mix the same amount of turmeric, liquorice and sandalwood powder with a small amount of rose water. Apply the mixture daily for about 20 minutes to the affected areas.
  • Relief paste for purulent acne and oily skin: Mix equal parts of Neem, Kurkuma and Moringa powder with aloe vera margarine to a paste. Apply daily for 20 minutes on the affected areas.
